On Sunday, August 3, 2025, Lions Regions 4, 5, and 6 in Calabar held a successful inaugural meeting, kicking off the service year with a series of impactful activities.

The day began with a dedication service at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish, where the regions consecrated the service year to God. The Minister in Charge, Most Rev. Theophilus Egbala, expressed gratitude for the Lions humanitarian efforts and encouraged them to extend their services to church members and clergy. Rev. Egba M. Ayo offered prayers for the Lions, and a donation was made to the church.

The Lions then proceeded to Pope John Paul II Good Samaritan Home, where they donated clothing, food, toiletries, and other essentials. Sister Rita, the Sister in Charge, received the items and thanked the Lions for their kindness, praying that God would grant them the strength to continue their noble work. The Lions also shared songs and fellowship with the residents.

The Lions gathered at Lions Park for their inaugural meeting, presided over by the Region Chairpersons: Lion Alice Offiong (Region 4), Lion Robert Antigha (Region 5), and Lion Agnes Bassey (Region 6), who was ably represented by Lion Ekanem Effanga, Zone 6A Chairperson. The meeting was a resounding success, with an impressive turnout of Lions.

Notably, the Lions had a hepatitis B screening session before the meeting, a pioneering initiative that underscored their commitment to health awareness.

As the Lions embark on this new service year, the theme Arise and Serve with Passion, Purpose, and Precision resonates deeply. All Lions were urged to actively participate in the District Governor s presentation service in Uyo.

The Region Chairpersons were applauded for their exceptional coordination, ensuring a seamless and successful inaugural meeting. This marks a promising beginning to the service year, filled with hope and opportunities for meaningful service.
