Laying the Foundation for a Brighter Future: Calabar Akin Lions Club Builds Classrooms at Ikot Ekpo

On Saturday January 25, 2025, the Ikot Ekpo community witnessed a momentous occasion as the Calabar Akin Lions Club under the leadership of the club s president, Lion Barr Iquo Akiba Ayi, laid the foundation for two blocks of three classrooms each. This initiative, aimed at improving education in the community, was met with joy and gratitude from residents. The project is situated within the premises of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, IKOT Ekpo Parish, 9 Mile, Calabar who graciously donated a parcel of land for the purpose of the project.
The event was graced by the Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG), Lion Charles Itu, who represented the District Governor, Lion Maurice Ibok PhD PMJF NLCF, District 404A2 Nigeria, Church pastors, community leaders, and members of the Lions Clubs gathered at the site, demonstrating the spirit of unity and service.
As the foundation stone was laid, the IPDG commended the club’s commitment to education, emphasizing that building classrooms is building the future. The pastors led prayers, blessing the project and asking for its successful completion. Community members expressed their gratitude, noting that the new classrooms would provide a better learning environment for their children.
With shovels in hand and hearts filled with hope, the Lions, the church, and the people of Ikot Ekpo took a bold step toward transforming education in the community. This project stands as a testament to the power of service and collective action in shaping a better future.
