Calabar Akin Lions Club Commissions Modern Out-Patient Ante-Natal Hall at Akim Primary Health Care C

On January 31, 2025, the Calabar Akin Lions Club marked another milestone in its commitment to humanitarian service by commissioning a modern Out-Patient Ante-Natal Hall at the Akim Primary Health Care Centre, Akim, Calabar. The fully equipped facility was built to enhance maternal and child healthcare in the community, ensuring expectant mothers receive quality health care in a conducive environment. The foundation laying ceremony of the project took place during the 2023/2024 service year.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the HRM  Eta Bassey Eteta III, Vice Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and members of Lions International. 

In his address, the District Governor, Lion District 404A2 Nigeria, Lion Sir Maurice Ibok PhD PMJF NLCF represented by Zone 6A Chairperson, Lion Vera Bassey emphasized Calabar Akin Lions club’s dedication to improving healthcare services, stating that good maternal healthcare is key to building a healthier society.

The event also featured goodwill messages from the Paramount ruler of the Quas, HRM.Eta Bassey Eteta III, Vice Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council who promised that the project will receive the attention of the government. Also, Primary Health Care Coordinator, who applauded the Lions for their generosity, and from community representatives, who expressed deep gratitude for the project. The medical staff at the facility rendered beautiful songs appreciating everyone who have contributed to the success of the project. A tour of the hall, showcase its state-of-the-art equipment, comfortable waiting areas, and improved patient care facilities.

The highlight of the occasion was the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the facility’s readiness to serve the people of Akim Community. A prayer of dedication was also offered.

This project stands as a testament to the power of service and collective impact, reinforcing the Calabar Akin Lions Club’s mission to serve communities and transform lives.
