In commemoration of World Literacy Day, the Calabar Akpabuyo Island Lions Club, under the dynamic leadership of its President, Lion Archibong Eso, NLCF, yesterday lit up the spirit of learning with a transformative literacy project. The event took place at 9 Grace Edet Crescent, Marian Road by Total Filling Station, Calabar, bringing together Lions, community members, and beneficiaries in a colorful atmosphere of service and hope.

World Literacy Day is a reminder that literacy is not just about reading and writing but about empowerment, opportunities, and building a society where no one is left behind. With this understanding, the Calabar Akpabuyo Island Lions Club rolled out initiatives that directly promote reading culture, access to educational resources, and awareness on the importance of literacy in shaping lives.

Speaking at the event, President Lion Archibong Eso, NLCF emphasized that literacy is at the heart of the Lions’ mission of service.

The project featured inspiring words, the donation of learning materials, and interactive sessions that left participants motivated and eager to embrace literacy as a lifelong tool. True to the Lions’ spirit, it was not just about giving but also about engaging, teaching, and building bridges of opportunity.

The Calabar Akpabuyo Island Lions Club has once again proven that service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on earth. Through this World Literacy Day project, the club has reaffirmed its place as a beacon of hope, touching lives one initiative at a time.
